Bistek (Beef Steak with Onions)


1 lb. sirloin beef, cut thinly
2 tablespoon canola oil plus 1 tablespoon
1 medium white onion, cut in rings
2 tablespoon oyster sauce
1/2 cup water or beef broth
salt and pepper to taste

3 cloves garlic, minced
half a lemon juice
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup Ponzu Citrus sauce
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Marinate the beef with garlic, lemon, soy sauce, ponzu sauce and black pepper for at least hour. Cook the onion for 2-3 minutes separately and set aside. Brown the beef and cook by batch. Return the beef in the pan then add water/beef broth and oyster sauce. Simmer for 20 minutes or until meat is tender. Season with salt and pepper. Top with onion rings. Serve with steam rice.

*This is my version of Bistek. I used Ponzu Seasoned Citrus for marinade, it gives a distinct taste and the lemon it is a natural tenderizer.  I added oyster sauce to add depth of flavor. enJOY!!!
